It is clearly documented that all societies have practiced a form of religion that gave meaning and purpose to life. Religion in its broadest form provides perimeters by which a people may live, work, maintain family and connect with a higher authority. BTNEF appreciates this broad definition of religion. Organizations, programs and projects that have a fundamental purpose to raise the level of consciousness in people will be eligible to be considered for funding. People, families and communities of chattel slavery survivors can be spiritually shaped through cultural experiences. We embrace spirituality in the forms of volunteerism, social responsibility, individual and collective accountability and contributing to society through connectedness with others where there is a feeling of belonging and being part of a group. As spiritual beings having a human experience we acknowledge that the people of the world/earth are of one race (the human race). Although, this group within the human race, are recognized and identified as the generations of chattel slavery survivors and must be reacquainted with there culture, heritage, spirituality and knowledge of self. With this reintroduction, the transition of chattel slavery survivors moving from the "Red to the Black" financially, spiritually and culturally will be accomplished.
